Beautiful
in birth,
more
radiant are You
now,
our daughter
cradled
gently in Your
arms.
Your eyes
gaze
into hers,
identical
twins,
then
carefully scan
the
entirety of
Your
creation, checking
hands
and feet,
fingers
and toes.
Your
hand gently
caresses,
touches,
smooth’s
in that
way
that You do,
the
hair on
her
head, and
You
smile.
In
one fluid motion
the
hospital gown
falls
away, You
hold
our daughter
to
Your breast,
a
drop of milk,
a
taste, a look
of
eternal knowing
passes
over her
face
as she
completes
the link
begun
nine months
before.
“In
the beginning
was
relation”, the
words
of Buber
sounds
in my ears
as
You gaze
at
Your creation
at
Your breast
and
smile and
know
it is good.
